Adaptive HEVC

Tdarr flows that test before they encode.

Four Tdarr flows that convert a media library to HEVC with one encode per file. Instead of guessing a quality setting, they test-encode three samples of each file, measure size and SSIM, and pick the CRF that halves the file without dropping below a quality floor. In daily use on a library of about 33,000 files.

  • SSIM quality floor of 0.975
  • HDR10 and HLG metadata preserved
  • Deinterlacing, subtitle and audio fixes in one pass
